1,000 km cycle route across Colorado

Cycling on the open road, just outside Buffalo Springs Campground (Fairplay, CO)

Idaho Springs, CO to Cortez, CO

We cycled over 1,000 kilometres using Adventure Cycling Association maps

With a route network of 41,420 miles that are selected, designed, and mapped by bicyclists, for bicyclists, the Adventure Cycling Association's website is a great resource.

2 miles above sea level - Rocky Mountain National Park

'Great Parks South' route

We were inspired to cycle the 'Great Parks South' route - 695 miles from Steamboat Springs, CO to Durango, CO.

With only two weeks, we were not able to cycle the entire route and started our tour in Idaho Springs, CO and finished in Cortez, CO (just outside Durango).

The route was highly enjoyable, guiding us through a continuous setting of dramatic mountain scenery, national forests and parks in addition to many climbs over a number of challenging mountain passes at high altitudes.
